These Jamaican fried dumplings have earned a permanent spot on our dining table. They have become a regular staple in my household, with my children and I often taking charge of making them. Over time, my children have become experts in shaping the dough, often coming up with creative and interesting designs.
If you have little ones who are interested in cooking, I highly encourage you to involve them in the process of shaping the dough. It’s a fun and engaging activity that they will undoubtedly enjoy.
Dumplings come in various forms, with the Chinese version being the oldest. However, the Chinese approach can be quite complex. In contrast, our delicious Jamaican fried dumplings only require five simple ingredients and straightforward steps. Once you have mixed all the ingredients together to form a soft dough, you can choose to fry them immediately or set them aside for later. For the best results, it is recommended to fry the dumplings on medium to low heat.
These fried dumplings make a fantastic accompaniment to other Jamaican dishes such as Jamaican Curry Goat, fish dishes, jerk chicken, ackee and saltfish, and more. While the classic Jamaican dumpling recipe traditionally includes cornmeal, you can still enjoy them without it and they will taste just as delightful!
Now, let’s dive into the recipe and discover how to make these mouth-watering Jamaican fried dumplings.
