While couscous on its own can be bland, it easily transforms into a delightful dish with the addition of bold spices like ginger, smoked paprika, cumin, or saffron. These flavour enhancers can turn a mundane couscous into a culinary delight. Understanding the nutritional benefits of these spices is key. For instance, paprika not only adds flavour but also aids in blood circulation. However, excessive consumption may cause stomach irritation.

Easy Couscous Recipe

Couscous lover or not you gotta love this one.
- 2-3 tbsp spicy tomato sauce
- 1 cup (250 ml) couscous + 250ml boiling water
- 1 cup (250 ml) mix vegetables
- 8 raw king prawns
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp soy sauce – for extra flavour
- salt to taste
First, prepare the couscous: place the couscous in a bowl then, pour 250ml boiling water and leave to stand for 10 minutes until the water is absorbed.
Now, heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a non-stick pan over a medium heat and add the raw prawns. Brown each sides for 2-3 minutes turning regularly then, remove from the pan to add later.
Add 1 cup mixed vegetables to the pan then, stir in the spicy tomato sauce, soy sauce and sprinkle some water. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 2-3 minutes to allow the vegetables to cook through.
Add the cooked prawns and couscous then cook for a further 1 -2 minutes.
Divide between two bowls and enjoy!
